Episode 3: Prioritizing Faith in a Fast-Paced World
Life is a whirlwind, isn’t it? Between work, kids, caring for the home, errands, and all the things that demand our attention, it can feel impossible to carve out time for the things that matter most—like our faith. Over the years, I’ve tried so many ways to keep Jesus at the center of my life, and while it’s never perfect, I’ve learned a few things along the way.
For me, it starts with church. Making Sunday worship a non-negotiable part of our week has been huge. I don’t want my family to see church as something optional; I want it to be a priority. It’s not about being a Sunday-only Christian, though. Church is a beautiful way to connect and worship as a family, but faith has to go beyond Sunday—it’s about living it daily.
Now, I’ll admit, I’ve struggled with consistency. I’ve tried morning devotionals, evening quiet time, and a mountain of books and journals. Life gets chaotic, and when I miss a day (or a week), I’ve wrestled with guilt. But here’s what I’ve realized: prioritizing my faith isn’t about checking boxes or sticking to a rigid schedule. It’s about making Jesus the number one relationship in my life—above my husband, my kids, my job, everything. Yes, you read that correctly, even above my husband and children. It is Jesus who keeps me grounded and shapes me into a Godly and faithful wife and mom.
When I keep Him in His rightful place, everything else seems to fall into perspective. That doesn’t mean it’s easy. Some days, I pray in the car because it’s the only quiet moment I get. Other days, it’s a quick, “Lord, help me!” whispered between a toddler tantrum and a work deadline. And you know what? That’s okay.
Prayer has been such a powerful tool for me. I used to feel like I didn’t know what to say or how to pray “the right way.” Then I found resources like Love Reality ministries, that taught me prayer is just a special moment between the Lord and me, and it can be done anywhere at any time. Prayer can be as simple as a conversation. Now, I talk to God like He’s a close friend—whether it’s gratitude, worries, or just a moment of praise, it flows so much easier when I’m real with Him.
Another game-changer? Immersing myself in scripture. I used to think I needed an hour of quiet time to “count,” but even five minutes can make a difference. Some of the most profound lessons come from simply opening the Bible and reading a few verses. And when I don’t feel that pull to open my Bible? I ask God for the desire. He’s faithful to answer those prayers.
Family worship has also become a sweet part of our routine. Whether reading a Bible storybook with my kids, playing worship music while we cook dinner, or dancing along to a fun worship song, it’s a beautiful way to share faith as a family. It is also praying together when we wake, before meals, and at bedtime. Most importantly, it's my children witnessing my husband, and I come to the Lord with every desire, trouble, and question in our lives. Thanking and both asking the Lord. My children are learning that our faith extends beyond church on a Sunday and into every moment of life.
One last thing I’ve learned is to protect my time. I used to scroll social media without thinking, but now I try to swap that habit for something more meaningful—like reading, listening to a sermon, or simply being in silence. Small changes like this have made a big difference.
At the end of the day, it’s not about perfection. God doesn’t expect us to get it right all the time, and there’s no shame in the struggle. He just wants our hearts. Whether it’s five minutes in the car, a quiet moment before bed, or a family sing-along, it all counts.
So, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a deep breath. Jesus is with you in the chaos. He’s your calm, your guide, and your friend. And trust me, when you make Him your number one, everything else falls into place.
Aloha & God bless,
Alè
